If I didn't already think Amy Adams was the cutest thing ever, I do now.

Fall Layers

When the weather gets chilly, I just can't say goodbye to my short sleeved shirts and dresses. I love layering long sleeves underneath my short sleeved things. :)
Here are some really cute examples from TOAST.

Me and Orson Welles

I saw the trailer to this the other day and I think it looks amazing! It's a film about a young teenager cast in the Mercury Theatre production of "Julius Ceasar" directed by a young Orson Welles in 1937.
Richard Samuels is played by Zac Efron, Sonja Jones is played by Claire Danes, and Orson Welles is played by Christian McKay.

The costumes look brilliant! I love Claire Danes outfits and all the guys look quite dashing in their wool coats. I love the 1930's. :)

I'm going to admit something, I used to totally mock Zac Efron...but I'm starting to really like him. He's an amazing young actor, sort of reminds me of a young Leonardo DiCaprio. I'm excited to see him in a period role outside of high school. I'm also a huge Claire Danes fan so I'm excited to see her in it!

Here is the brilliantly done trailer:

New Nanny McPhee

A new Nanny McPhee is in the making starring Emma Thompson, Ralph Fiennes, Maggie Smith, and Maggie Gyllenhaal. It's called "Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang". The thing I'm super excited about though is that Jaqueline Durran is doing the costumes! (costume designer for 2005 Pride and Prejudice, Atonement) I can't wait to see what she comes up with. I know it will be wonderful. :) It's set to release in Europe in spring of 2010. I have yet to find the US release date, if there will even be one. But as soon as I find pictures I'll do a post about it. :)
Here's some pictures of the first Nanny McPhee, costumes designed by Nic Ede (designer for Flyboys, Lorna Doone)

I'm sure Jaqueline Durran will do just as wonderful of a job...I'm looking forward to it.

Lucy from Sweeney Todd

I just ran across these pictures on Costumers Guide and fell in love. :) I haven't seen Sweeney Todd (and don't really want to) but the costumes are pretty awesome.
This one stole my heart though:
I love the paleness of it and the fingerless gloves:
So beautiful....now I want to make one. Just add it to my already massive sewing project list I guess? ;)

Jane Bennet Short Jacket Finished!

I just finished the Jane Bennet short jacket I made for a customer. We took our inspiration from the jacket Jane wears (above) in the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice and this cardigan from J. Crew:
Here are the results!

Australia Inspired Clothing Line

Costume and Production Designer, Catherine Martin is coming out with a clothing line with R. M. Williams inspired by the film Australia.
Catherine Martin is such an inspiration to me. I'm in love with her costumes in Australia as well as Moulin Rouge. She and her husband, director Baz Luhrmann, make an incredible team!

I did another post earlier today on my other blog about her amazing production design as well as her gorgeous line of rugs and wallpaper. Check it out HERE.

Check out the complete collection HERE. I love those patterns in the fabric. :) Very"Catherine Martin". ;)

Australia on DVD today

Every now and then, I'm one of those people who has to race to the store and buy a movie the day it comes out. It's a pretty rare film that makes a must own for me. Australia, however, is one of those films. :) I bought it today but the best part is, I got the exclusive pack for the same price as the regular DVD.
It comes with this amazing little book of beautiful photography from the film.Such an epic. We had a movie night with some friends tonight and watched it.

I'm sure one of these days I'll make some costumes from it. For now I'll just enjoy every bit of the DVD. I'm not only in love with the costumes. The cinematography is AMAZING. The score is beautiful. The acting is suburb.

Alright, I'll stop gushing. :) But I am one happy girl today.

Disclaimer:

Although I continually talk about movie costumes on this blog, I am not a movie reviewer. Not all the films I discuss are recommended and I do not choose to review weather they are appropriate or not for the simple fact that every person's standards are different. Something that is fine for me may be offensive to some one else and visa versa. If you would like to look into the appropriateness of a title, I recommend pluggedinonline.com. I have not seen all the movies I discuss, and am simply interested in the art of clothes in film. I will leave you to decide for yourself if you will watch the movie or not.
