Costume Plans

I decided to document all of my fabric for costumes with pictures of what I plan to use it for so it will give me a visual of what the goal is and also just to share with you all the insanity of my fabric stash. *Sigh.*
These aren't in any order of when I plan to make them, they aren't really in any order at all. But out of these which ones would you be most excited to see made?

Sleepy Hollow Dress
I have plans to try and make a dress inspired by the Sleepy Hollow dress, I don't have enough fabric to make the entire thing with my striped fabric so I'm thinking of doing the bodice with the stripes and doing the skirt solid black or something. I can still add all the awesome black and white ribbon trims and I think it would be pretty neat. :)
Regency Gown
I have had this fabric in my stash for ages to make a Regency Gown for myself. I'm thinking something like this dress of Emma's, only with short sleeves and detachable long sleeves maybe?
Elisabeth Swann Gown
This dress I'm a little intimidated by but I really want to make it! I found this fabric which is a close match awhile back. I already have made the chemise and corset. I just need to make the panniers to go underneath.
Regency Pelisse
I was given this fabric awhile back and I thought it would make a pretty Regency pelisse. The grassy design would go along the bottom hem and the rest would just be the brown I think.
Maid Marian Gown
I bought these fabrics forever ago to make a dress inspired by this dress Maid Marian wears in the BBC Robin Hood tv series.
Regency Spencer
I am planning on making a Regency spencer jacket out of this green floral fabric and lining it with light green silk. I have some black trim I might add to it when it's finished too!
Elizabeth Bennet Pelisse
I have always wanted to make this jacket Elizabeth Bennet wears in the 2005 Pride and Prejudice. I bought this fabric to make it and I ended up using part of it to make my pirate coat, but there is still enough left to make her jacket too!
Robin Hood Jacket
I have this army green fabric to make a replica of Robin Hood's jacket from the BBC tv series Robin Hood. Isn't his jacket awesome?
Regency Apron
I think this fabric would make a pretty Regency apron like Elinor's in Sense and Sensibility.
Regency Dress or 18th Century Chemise
I have this white ripply fabric that I think would either make a pretty Regency gown or 18th Century chemise/nightgown.
This fabric is so gorgeous, it's very thin lightweight fabric with a stripe woven into it. I think it would make either a gorgeous Marie Antoinette gown like this one, or a Regency gown like Lizzie's.
I also have this blue linen which I'm not sure what I will use it for. Maybe it should be a men's waistcoat for my husband? :) What do you think?
Well that's most of it! I have a few more I didn't post because I'm not sure what I'm doing with them yet. But now you see why I really need to make myself sit down and sew some costumes!
Which one would you sew first? Vote on the poll on my blog to help me decide!

A Bit of a Costume Wish List

I almost always have a costume wish list floating around in my mind, which changes often. Some days I'm all about something Regency, other days it's Medieval. Here are a few things I've been dreaming about lately.
I fell in love with this gorgeous costume Gwen wears in the BBC series 'Merlin'. I love the pastel colors and the little embroidered details! I would love to make a replica of this someday!
Back view: I love the lacing and the embroidery!
I've always been in love with Eowyn's Sheildmaiden dress from Lord of the Rings. A friend of mine is making a replica which is turning out gorgeous! You can see her's so far here. Maybe someday I will make this too :)
I would love to make one of these white dresses from Marie Antoinette. They are so gorgeous! And they look so summery!
I need to finish my current Elizabeth Swann costume first, but I've always wanted to make her Island Shift from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
Those are just a few floating around in my mind lately. I have a whole box of fabric for different projects though which I need to use up, so it would be awhile before I make any of these.
What costume are you dreaming of making lately?

Les Miserables

The trailer is out for the new Les Miserables which is coming out in theaters this December and I'm so excited to see it! I went through an obsession with this story when I was about twelve years old, (with the movie and book) I loved the movie with Liam Neeson as Jean Valjean and I can't wait to see Hugh Jackman in the role. Not to mention, it's a musical...and Anne Hatheway is in it. Both of whom have gorgeous voices. I have been waiting for them to do a musical together since they sang together at The Oscars. I am so looking forward to this!
And that is really all I have to say. I will let the photos speak for themselves:

You can view the trailer here.

Supplies for Finishing :)

I have been really busy lately so I'm sorry for the lack of posting! My parents were here visiting last week and my mom brought me my beads so now I can finish my Maid Marian dress! She also brought me the leftover dress scrap fabric so I need to decide if I want to make a belt or not. If I do...it's going to be awhile before it's finished. :P
I haven't been doing very well on my challenge have I? I'm already 4 costumes behind. :P Ah well, it has helped me get more done then I think I would have otherwise. And who knows...maybe one of these months before the year is up I'll whip out a ton of costumes. ;) And they don't all have to be big costumes, accessories count too. :)
Below are the supplies I have to finish the dress. I am excited to finish it!

The beads on the left are some I bought while being impatient for my beads to get here, but I think they might be too gold. The beads in the middle are what my mom brought, but now I'm worried there aren't enough of them. The red cord is some suede cord I'm going to use for the lacing in the back and the embroidery floss is to hand sew the eyelets. I think I need a day to watch Robin Hood and work on this!
I am going to have to put working on costumes into my schedule so I will remember to get it done. ;)
Hopefully I will have more to update soon!
What have all of you been working on?

Disclaimer:

Although I continually talk about movie costumes on this blog, I am not a movie reviewer. Not all the films I discuss are recommended and I do not choose to review weather they are appropriate or not for the simple fact that every person's standards are different. Something that is fine for me may be offensive to some one else and visa versa. If you would like to look into the appropriateness of a title, I recommend pluggedinonline.com. I have not seen all the movies I discuss, and am simply interested in the art of clothes in film. I will leave you to decide for yourself if you will watch the movie or not.
