Great Expectations Now Online
I completely missed the fact that Great Expectations started on Masterpiece last Sunday! Thankfully, you can still see the first episode online, for those of you interested in seeing it.
You can see the first episode HERE and the next episode is airing April 8.
Enjoy!

The Mystery of Edwin Drood
Another Dickens film is coming out, The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Here are a few photos! I recognize Tamzin Merchant (Georgiana Darcy in the 2005 Pride and Prejudice) and Alun Armstrong (Flintwinch in Little Dorrit) but otherwise I not too many familiar faces to me.
This will be interesting as it is based on an unfinished novel of Dickens. I haven't ever read it, have any of you?

BBC Great Expectations 2012
There is a new Great Expectations coming out that looks interesting. I haven't ever read the book or seen a movie of it so I don't really know the story but I love Charles Dickens and the costumes look wonderful! It looks a little on the creepy side, but then it is Dickens.
I really like this dress:
It will be interesting to see what it's like! And I'm interested in seeing more costumes!

Little Dorrit Finale
Well, what did you all think of the final episode of Little Dorrit? I thought it was wonderful. :) If you didn't get a chance to watch it, you can still see it online HERE or buy it on DVD HERE.
A lot of work went into the costumes...I thought they were amazing. My absolute favorite though, I think, was Amy's simple dress and apron:

And then I'm in love with the men's wardrobe as well. Nothing quite so dashing as cravats. :)
Everything from the acting to the cinematography and score is stunning. This production was so well done. I'm a little sad it's over but at least now I can get it on DVD and watch it straight through with out having to wait a week to know what happens next. Even though there is some fun in that. :)
Next week is The Old Curiosity Shop.

Little Dorrit
I hope you all got a chance to se the firt episode of 'Little Dorrit' on Masterpiece Theater last night. If not, never fear! You can watch it online HERE. I don't know how I'm going to wait five weeks before the ending...but in a way it's kind of fun to have something to look forward to every week. :)
I thought Matthew MacFadyen was brilliant in the first episode. I was so thrilled when I heard he was going to be in it! I think he belongs in period films. ;)

Although I continually talk about movie costumes on this blog, I am not a movie reviewer. Not all the films I discuss are recommended and I do not choose to review weather they are appropriate or not for the simple fact that every person's standards are different. Something that is fine for me may be offensive to some one else and visa versa. If you would like to look into the appropriateness of a title, I recommend pluggedinonline.com. I have not seen all the movies I discuss, and am simply interested in the art of clothes in film. I will leave you to decide for yourself if you will watch the movie or not.
