Hermione Knits

My husband and I just finished watching all the Harry Potter movies and like the obsessive knitter I am, the things that stood out most were things like sweaters, scarfs and gloves.
One such sweater is this lovely one Hermione wears in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 while they are camping out in the woods.
It has a lovely fair isle design around the yoke, and it's the loveliest shades of grey. (Grey is one of my favorite colors to knit with!)
There is a pattern on Ravelry that can be found here for a sweater like Hermione's. So lovely. :)

I also ran across a pattern for her fingerless mittens which can be found here. There are several patterns on Ravelry for her mittens, but I thought these looked the most slouchy, like hers.

Does this ever happen to you when you watch movies?

Snow White Patterns

Simplicity just released two patterns based on the Snow White movies that have come out this past year. First, Snow White and The Huntsman, which I have yet to see but I think the costumes look amazing!

Simplicity 1773 (purchase here) is an awesome looking replica of the costume. And also includes a costume for the Queen.

The other pattern is for the blue dress from Mirror Mirror.

Simplicity 1728 is a less detailed version but still gives you the same look and could be modified if you wanted it to be really accurate. (purchase here)
I hope you are all having a great week!

Bead Destash!

In case you haven't noticed, I am doing some serious destashing! I decided it was time to sort through and evaluate what I will definitely use and what, even if I love it, I probably will never get around to using. So I hope you don't mind my destash updates! My latest project was to go through my beads....here are just a few things I'm getting rid of.
A part of me feels sad because I still think they are pretty and taking pictures has made me like them even more. But then I look at my organized bead box full of beads with a purpose and I know I did the right thing. :)
If you're interested in some beads head over to my shop!
I hope you're all having a great Tuesday!

Disclaimer:

Although I continually talk about movie costumes on this blog, I am not a movie reviewer. Not all the films I discuss are recommended and I do not choose to review weather they are appropriate or not for the simple fact that every person's standards are different. Something that is fine for me may be offensive to some one else and visa versa. If you would like to look into the appropriateness of a title, I recommend pluggedinonline.com. I have not seen all the movies I discuss, and am simply interested in the art of clothes in film. I will leave you to decide for yourself if you will watch the movie or not.
