Elizabeth Swann Chemise Finished!

I just finished sewing the lace on the sleeves of the chemise! It's now done...

:) I love it. I'll take photos of the entire thing soon, I promise!

Elizabeth Swann Corset Update

The corset fabric is all cut out!
So now I'm trying to decide...hand sew or machine? I made my chemise entirely by hand so I would love for this to be all hand sewn as well....but I'm also a little impatient to finish it. Haha...which is just the reason I should hand sew it! Haste makes waste! But we shall see...
I will try to decide today though so I can start on it soon!

Elizabeth Swann Corset

Since my chemise is almost done I've already started collecting research for my Elizabeth Swann corset. Here are several pictures from the film:

Isn't it beautiful?

Another Update on Elizabeth Swann Chemise

Well, there's a picture of the chemise so far. All that's left is to finish sewing the lace on the sleeved and it's done!

Detail of the drawstring casing inside the chemise:

Detail of the drawstring around the neck:
And that's it for now...I should be able to finish the lace today and then hopefully start the corset this week sometime!

Elizabeth Swann's Dotted Swiss Chemise Update

I've sewn bias tape unto the lace so it will not fray and be kept nice. I started tacking it to the sleeves but some how I ran short so there isn't enough...I might have to get creative.
Here are a couple pictures of the sleeves on the original chemise worn by Keira:

I just saw this picture where the drawstring is on the outside. I put mine on the inside. Oh well...little details I suppose. ;)
The chemise is almost done! I just need to finish tacking the lace on and sew casings into the waist for the drawstring. I'm going to try and finish it tonight. We shall see....I'll update soon. I'm on a bit of a sewing kick now. I'm impatient to start on the corset, I have the fabric all ready to be cut. :)

Some Marie Antoinette Therapy...

This film has got to be the most amazing when it comes to the incredible costumes. There are over 60 scrumptious gowns in this film...(worn by Marie Antoinette alone...that's not even counting everybody else) How can the eye even capture so much in one viewing? Thanks to Costumers Guide you can swoon over each gown in great detail.

Just a small taste to wet your appetite. ;)

Vogue September 2008 (US)

On my way home from the UK I treated myself to a Vogue magazine. I fell in love with these dresses:

Aren't they yummy? :)

Disclaimer:

Although I continually talk about movie costumes on this blog, I am not a movie reviewer. Not all the films I discuss are recommended and I do not choose to review weather they are appropriate or not for the simple fact that every person's standards are different. Something that is fine for me may be offensive to some one else and visa versa. If you would like to look into the appropriateness of a title, I recommend pluggedinonline.com. I have not seen all the movies I discuss, and am simply interested in the art of clothes in film. I will leave you to decide for yourself if you will watch the movie or not.
