Elizabeth Swann Underpinnings: Still in Progress

I just wanted to let you know I haven't given up on my Elizabeth Swann corset! I am about 2/3 of the way done with boning the second half and then just have to do binding and eyelets and then find the perfect lacing! I'll update with pictures soon, for now...you can just drool over a picture of her corset:

Once I finish that I'm hoping to tackle panniers. Which should be fun! Has anyone made some before?

After that I think I'll start my Duchess gown. I need the underpinnings first anyway to give it the proper look. Then someday I'll make one of Elizabeth's dresses. There's just so much on my list of things to do. ;)

Regency

My mom is doing a Jane Austen Tea at the end of this month and I just realized...I haven't anything Regency to wear. *sigh* I guess I shall just have to make something new. Bummer. ;)I'm going to start from scratch as I've outgrown all of my Regency things so first off, I need to make some underpinnings! I'm going to use Jennie Chancey's Regency underpinnings pattern because it's amazing. :)

I haven't decided what sort of dress to do yet. But I was thinking it would actually be fun to go simple and do something like Charlotte Lucas' dress.

I just love love love this dress.

I still haven't tried the crossover bodice pattern that my friends gave me for my birthday so I could try that and make something like Lizzie's Pemberley dress which is one of my favorites:

Or I might just try something out of me head. We'll have to wait and see. I need to turn off Robin Hood and put Pride and Prejudice on. I need inspiration. I'm still dreaming of hoods and bow and arrows. Which wont quite fit in with the tea cups and English Country dances. ;)

Plans

(yikes, I wrote this a few days ago and forgot to post it! Well, here it is anyway!)

I'm up to my elbows in Civil War sewing at the moment. I've almost finished hand sewing my chemise which I will be posting about soon and I'm getting ready to start a dress.

I've been watching clips of Cold Mountain on YouTube which has seriously got me in the mood for the sewing task ahead of me. I'm in love with the costumes in that film. :) (Though I still haven't plucked up the courage to watch the whole thing yet)

So pretty and cozy looking. :) Would be spledid for reenacting in the rain, don't you think? But I'm already working on a cardigan so we'll see. :)

THE DUCHESS

(I must confess I rather like these big wigs. :) I think they're awesome!)

Sorry there has been so much movie posting and so little of my actual projects. I will get back to sewing soon as the Holidays are almost over. I haven't stopped dreaming up projects! I've been doing a lot of costume sketching in my sketchbook, so the ideas are there. :) But you can't see them until later. ;)Well...a note of excitement! The Duchess came out on DVD today! My sister rented it and I've just finished watching it with my family. Not quite as epic as in the theater but I still loved it and could eat up every costume.

Now I REALLY can't wait to start my Dutchess gown! I need to finish a few other projects first though and probably make some panniers. I shall try to be patient.

For now...I shall enjoy the DVD for the few days we have it and try to content myself with sketches and reasearch.

Oh, and in case no one has seen it, I posted pictures of the Crusoe Pirate necklace I made to go with my dad's pirate costume for Christmas at Pemberley Couture. :)

The Edge of Love

I know I've already posted about this before. But I just can't get enough of these flowered dresses, wooly cardigans and rubber wellies in The Edge of Love. Ah...to be Welsh.
