Maid Marian

I have yet to finish a complete season of the BBC Robin Hood but I've been addicted to the few episodes and clips I can find on YouTube while I'm waiting for the dvd's to arrive from the library. But...I'm so thankful for Amanda Beth's amazing costume study on all of Maid Marian's costumes! I've added a link to the side of my blog so be sure to visit often and see updates or just pour over past costumes like I do. ;)
Makes me want to get out my bow (if I had one) and dress up. Robin Hood has always been my favorite hero growing up. It's funny because I never wanted to be Maid Marian, I always pretended I was Robin Hood and made my friend's be the girl because in the cartoon, Maid Marian didn't get to shoot a bow and arrow. ;) Thankfully in the history books Maid Marian was as good of an archer as Robin Hood! So now I can dress up and still get to have my bow. ;)

I love the modern twists they put into the costumes as well. :)
I think Lucy Griffith's is the perfect Maid Marian. She's strong but beautiful. :)

But enough of my gushing! Go check out Amanda's COSTUME STUDY. :)

  3. Wow - nice post! I am honored. :)

Yes, I totally adore Lucy Griffiths (hoping somebody casts her in a bbc costume drama or something - THAT would be fun), her costumes and her Marian. She was made for the part. :)

  4. Oh yes...she should TOTALLY be in a BBC drama! Hmm....now my mind is spinning on what part she should play. I think she and the guy who plays Frederick (Margret's brother) in North and South should both be cast in leading roles in something. Hmmm....what have they not yet made...?

  5. Lol - my sister was crazy about Frederick when we first saw N&S. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, although BBC is supposedly cutting back on "bonnet dramas", or something. :P

  6. That second pic is such a great shot of the dress! I never noticed how fantastic that skirt is!

Nooo!! The BBC can't cut back on bonnet dramas! Aren't they a large source of revenue? Loads of people purchase them!

  7. Amanda: I wish they wouldn't cut back on "bonnet dramas"! There's still so many books that need to be made into films! Oh well...I guess I can content myself with all the wonderful films they have made. :)

lissawi: Isn't that skirt amazing? I can't wait to get some fabric...my eylet punch is eagerly awaiting...:)

Although I continually talk about movie costumes on this blog, I am not a movie reviewer. Not all the films I discuss are recommended and I do not choose to review weather they are appropriate or not for the simple fact that every person's standards are different. Something that is fine for me may be offensive to some one else and visa versa. If you would like to look into the appropriateness of a title, I recommend pluggedinonline.com. I have not seen all the movies I discuss, and am simply interested in the art of clothes in film. I will leave you to decide for yourself if you will watch the movie or not.
